Terms of Service

Effective date: August 16, 2026 · Last updated: August 16, 2026

These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) are a binding agreement between you and AKES Solutions Limited (company number 17091947), a private limited company registered in England and Wales with its registered office at Unit 501 Leroy House, 434-436 Essex Road, London, United Kingdom, N1 3FY (“we”, “us”, “our”), governing your use of the Bible Shield app and related services (the “Service”). By downloading, accessing or using the Service you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Acceptance and eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent where you live) to use the Service. If you are under the age of majority you may use it only with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian. If you use the Service on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you are authorised to bind it to these Terms.

2. The Service

Bible Shield is a Christian devotional app offering guided prayer, Scripture reading, streaks, a community, and an optional feature that lets you set times when apps you choose are paused until you pray. It is provided for personal, devotional use. It is not a substitute for professional medical, psychological, financial or pastoral advice, and it is not an emergency service. If you are in crisis, contact a qualified professional or your local emergency number.

3. Your device profile

The Service needs no account, email or password. It is tied to an anonymous identifier for your device, and you are responsible for what happens through it. Fields you choose to add — display name, username, bio, favourite verse, photo — may be visible to others in the community.

4. Licence and restrictions

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service on devices you own or control, subject to these Terms and to the app store’s terms. You may not:

  • copy, modify or create derivative works of the Service;
  • reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble it, except where the law permits;
  • rent, lease, lend, sell, redistribute or sublicense it;
  • remove or alter proprietary notices; or
  • use the Service to build a competing product, or for any unlawful purpose.

5. Community guidelines and end-user licence (EULA)

The Service includes community features where you can post prayer requests, posts, comments and live-chat messages (“User Content”). By using the community you accept this End-User Licence Agreement. We operate a strict, zero-tolerance policy for objectionable content and abusive users.

You agree not to post, share or transmit User Content that:

  • is unlawful, hateful, harassing, threatening, abusive, defamatory or invades privacy;
  • is sexually explicit, obscene or pornographic, or exploits or endangers minors;
  • promotes violence, self-harm, discrimination or illegal activity;
  • is spam, a scam, or contains malware or unsolicited advertising; or
  • impersonates another person, or infringes anyone’s intellectual-property or other rights.

You are solely responsible for your User Content and confirm you have the right to share it. You keep ownership of it and grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce and display it solely to operate and provide the Service.

Moderation. To keep this community safe:

  • Filteringposts, prayer requests, comments and chat messages are screened automatically before they appear — a word filter on every surface, an AI classifier on longer writing, and an adult-content check on every uploaded photo
  • Reportingevery post, comment, message and person can be reported from inside the app, in two taps
  • Blockingyou can block anyone, which immediately hides their posts, comments and messages from you and yours from them
  • Acting within 24 hourswe review reports and remove objectionable content and the users who post it, typically within 24 hours

Removals follow a ladder rather than a single sanction: the first two removals are warnings, a third restricts your writing for 7 days, and further removals for up to 30 days. A removal stops counting after 90 days and no restriction is permanent. You are told each time what was removed and why, and the record of the decision is kept even if you delete your profile. Rooms are separated by the language content is written in; writing in the wrong room may be moved or removed. To report content or a user directly, email support@bibleshield.app.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use the Service unlawfully or in breach of these Terms;
  • interfere with, disrupt, overload or gain unauthorised access to the Service or its infrastructure; or
  • use bots, scrapers or other automated means to access the Service beyond what a person could reasonably produce.

7. Subscriptions and billing

Some features require a paid subscription. We currently offer:

  • Bible Shield Pro Weeklyrenews every week, 3-day free trial for new subscribers.
  • Bible Shield Pro Yearlyrenews every year, 3-day free trial for new subscribers.

We may also offer a discounted plan from inside the app. Prices are set per country and are always shown to you, in your own currency, on the purchase screen before you buy — that screen, not this page, is the authoritative price. Prices may change with notice.

Subscriptions are sold and billed by the Apple App Store or Google Play under their terms. Payment is taken when you confirm the purchase. Unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the current period ends, the subscription renews and your store account is charged for the next period. A free trial becomes a paid subscription unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends; trial eligibility is decided by the store and is usually one per account. You can manage or cancel at any time in your operating system’s subscription settings — on iOS, Settings → your name → Subscriptions; on Android, Play Store → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions — and cancelling stops the next renewal while leaving access until the current period ends. Uninstalling the app does not cancel a subscription. Because Apple and Google process the payment, refunds are handled by them (for Apple, reportaproblem.apple.com); except where the law requires otherwise, payments are non-refundable.

8. Intellectual property

The Service, including its software, design and original content, is ours and is protected by intellectual-property law. Scripture is provided from publicly available translations, including the World English Bible, the King James Version and the Bible in Basic English. Except for your own User Content, you may not copy, modify, distribute or create derivative works from the Service without our permission. Any feedback you send us may be used without obligation to you.

9. Apple App Store

If you obtained the app from the Apple App Store, the following applies and supplements Apple’s standard EULA; where they conflict, these Terms govern:

  • these Terms are between you and us only, not Apple;
  • Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app;
  • to the extent the law permits, Apple has no warranty obligation, and warranty claims are our responsibility;
  • Apple is not responsible for product-liability claims, third-party intellectual-property claims or consumer-protection claims relating to the app; and
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

10. Disclaimer of warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure. The app-pausing feature depends on your device’s operating system and is offered on a best-effort basis; we do not guarantee that it will block any particular app at any particular time.

11. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT THE LAW PERMITS, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF WHAT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR USD $50.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold AKES Solutions Limited harmless from claims, damages, liabilities and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your User Content, your use of the Service, or your breach of these Terms or of anyone’s rights.

13. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time and delete your data from inside the app (Profile → Delete account) or from bibleshield.app/delete. We may suspend or end your access to all or part of the Service if you breach these Terms or to protect the Service and its users. Safety and billing records survive deletion as described in the Privacy Policy. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination — intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification — do survive.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction — except that this does not deprive you of mandatory consumer-protection rights, or of the right to bring proceedings in the courts, of the country where you live.

15. Changes and general terms

We may update these Terms; we will revise the “last updated” date above, and continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept them. If a provision is unenforceable, the rest stand. Not enforcing a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service.
